DG Vaishnav College (Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College), commonly known as DGV, is a Liberal arts, commerce and science college in Chennai, India. It is an autonomous institution affiliated with the University of Madras.
The College
The founding of the College was in 1964.
Academics
DG Vaishnav College was affiliated to the University of Madras, however the College has been conferred the status of “AUTONOMY” by the UGC and endorsed by the University of Madras from the academic year 2009 - 2010. Consequently students admitted to various UG, PG and M.Phil courses during the academic year 2009 - 2010 will come under Autonomous pattern.
National Cadet Corps
The college is very famous for National Cadet Corps (NCC). The NCC has two wings Infantry (1 Tamil Nadu Battalion) and Armoured (1 Tamil Nadu Armoured Squadron). The college has represented Tamil Nadu contingent for Republic Day at New Delhi.The cadets of the college have won the award "All India Best Cadet" .The cadets of the college have also represented the nation as youth Ambassadors. The college conducts "CADOFEST" - Inter Collegiate competitions for NCC Cadets. CADOFEST marked its 25th Year in 2007.
