Summary

This is my copy of an image of Gaspee Point in Warwick, Rhode Island from : Benson John Lossing, "The Pictorial Field-book of the Revolution; Or, Illustrations, by Pen and Pencil, of the History, Biography, Scenery, Relics, and Traditions of the War for Independence, Volume 2" (New York: Harper & Bros., 1852), pg. 60 [1] (accessed December 10, 2008 on Google Book Search).

(This view is from the bank of the cove just below the Point, looking northeast, showing its appearance at low water when the clam-fishers are upon it. The buoy is seen beyond the extreme end of the Point on the right. The bank is about fifteen feet high. In front of Pawtuxet, about a mile above, are the remains of breast-works, thrown up during the war of 1812. There are also breast-works at Field's Point, two miles below Providence, where is a flag-staff.)
