Maria Mercedes is a 2013 Philippine television series based on the 1992 Mexican telenovela of the same title that aired on Televisa, that starred Thalía and Arturo Peniche. It was topbilled by Jessy Mendiola, Jake Cuenca, Jason Abalos and Nikki Gil. The series was aired on ABS-CBN and worldwide on The Filipino Channel from October 7, 2013 to January 24, 2014, replacing Muling Buksan Ang Puso.[2][3]

Maria Mercedes was a trending topic on Twitter on September 22, 2013 when the lead stars Mendiola, Cuenca and Abalos guested in the comedy talk show Gandang Gabi, Vice. Meanwhile, during the grand presscon held at Pattio Ibarra on September 27, 2013, one of its cast member Devon Seron, who plays the role of Maria Mercedes' younger sister "Rosario", was the No. 1 Trending topic with hashtag #DevonSeronAsRosarioAlegreInMM.[5]
