Novoair (Bengali: নভোএয়ার) is an airline based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.[3] Novoair operates domestic flights, from its hub at Shahjalal International Airport, with three Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft and three ATR 72-500 aircraft.

History

Novoair was established in October 2001 as an aviation service provider as the business diversification of parent company "Tusuka Group" with directors Arshad Jamal, Faiz Khan, Mofizur Rahman and Fayzur Rahman Badal. From the year 2011, Novoair started the process of establishing its own airline with the direct initiative of Mr. Faiz Khan, the founding Chairman of the company. Finally, Novoair started conducting domestic flights as a scheduled operation on January 2013.[1]

In July 2013, Novoair launched Smiles, the frequent-flyer program of the airline.[4] Smiles is the first frequent-flyer program for domestic flights in Bangladesh's aviation history. Tiered benefits include special offers, travel packages, waiting list priority, priority services (sales counter, check-in and boarding) and excess baggage allowance.[2] Novoair received the Monitor's best domestic airlines award in 2014.[5]

Novoair launched international flights in 1 December 2015.[6]

Destinations

Flights to three initial domestic destinations began from 9 January 2013 — to Chittagong, Jessore and Cox's Bazar, all from Dhaka.[1] It later launched flights to Sylhet on 20 January. Novoair has been allotted with multiple traffic rights to operate flights to all major cities of South Asia, Southeast Asia, Far East and the Middle East. Novoair aspires to connect to all major cities in those regions in near future with induction of narrow body aircraft. As of February 2016, Novoair serves the following destinations :[7]
