The 1983 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was won by Dublin in a final that was contested with Galway. The final was played at Croke Park with a packed attendance of 71,988. The final finished on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-08 in Dublin's favour. The final proved to be quite a controversial game with Dublin having three players sent off and Galway one. It was dubbed the Game of Shame.
