In the 1999-2000 season, Brentford made a bright start by winning nine from their first 17 league games which saw them sitting in the automatic promotion places on 19 November, but eventually lost ground with a poor run of form which saw win only four from their remaining 29 league matches and as a result saw them finish in a disappointing 17th place.
