The 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The bidding to host the tournament will begin in 2017.

Host selection

After earning the hosting rights for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017, India is set to continue its upward surge in international representation as the All India Football Federation plans to bid for the U-20 World Cup in the near future. According to AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das, it could be as early as 2019, with the bidding process set to begin in 2017.

Speaking at Soccerex convention in Manchester, Das said, "If we are going to host the U-17 World Cup, definitely we will look to host bigger events. Going forward, we will be bidding for the Under-20 World Cup, it’s a natural progression."[1]
