African tick bite fever is a bacterial infection transmitted by the Amblyomma, Dermacentor or the Rhipicephalus family of ticks.[1] It is caused by the Rickettsia africae bacterium.[2] The incubation period of the disease is from 5 to 7 days [3] and symptoms include fever, headache and a skin rash. The rash is characterized by scant lesions, often macular and/or vesicular.[4]
