Ann Prentiss (November 27, 1939 – January 12, 2010) was an American actress.
Prentiss was born Ann Elizabeth Ragusa in San Antonio, Texas, to Thomas and Paulene (née Gardner) Ragusa. Her father was of Sicilian descent. Her elder sister is the actress Paula Prentiss. Prentiss had many bit parts in films and television series in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Her best-known part was in the TV series Captain Nice, in which she played Carter Nash's girlfriend, Sgt. Candy Kane. She provided the voice of an alien species in the comedy film My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988), co-starring Kim Basinger and Dan Aykroyd, and her other film roles included appearances in Any Wednesday (1966), If He Hollers Let Him Go (1968), The Out-of-Towners (1970), and California Split (1974), opposite George Segal and Elliott Gould. She continued acting into the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was credited in some film and TV appearances as "Anne Prentiss".[citation needed]
Prison
In 1997 Ann Prentiss was tried in a Santa Monica, California court for terrorizing her family. She was convicted of making terrorist threats, assault with a firearm, battery, and solicitation to murder her brother-in-law (actor Richard Benjamin) and her father. She was sentenced to 19 years in jail for the crimes. She died in prison at age 70.[1]
