The BFE+ der Bundespolizei (BFE+ of the Federal Police) is a German special unit of the Beweissicherungs- und Festnahmeeinheit (Perpetuation of evidence and arrest unit) of the German Federal Police, established in summer 2015 as a reaction on the terrorist attacks in Paris 2015.[1]

On the 16th of December 2015, it was presented to the public by the German Minister of the Interior, Thomas de Maizière.

Tasks

It is tasked to assist the antiterrorist unit GSG9. The BFE+ is trained by the GSG9, especially for long-term searches in manhunt operations.[2][3]

Equipment

Beside the usual service pistol HK P30, officers of the the BFE + carry ballistic waistcoats (bulletproof vests) during operations. They also have the G36C, a shortened version of the assault rifle G36, also used by the German Bundeswehr. Moreover, the BFE+ will be equipped with armored vehicles, for example to deal with terrorists equipped with explosive belts.
