Blair Tuke (born 25 July 1989) is a New Zealand sailor.[1] He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 49er class winning the silver medal alongside Peter Burling. The medal was New Zealand's 100th Olympic Medal.[2]

Tuke and Burling were the youngest 49er pair at the London Olympics.

Tuke and Burling are the first sailors to win 4 consecutive 49er class World Championships (2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016). As of May 2016 they have been undefeated in major regattas in the 49er since the London Olympics - winning 26 consecutive regattas.

In November 2015 the International Sailing Federation announced that Tuke and Burling were the ISAF Rolex World Male Sailors of the year.[3]

Tuke is a member of Emirates Team New Zealand campaigning for the 35th Americas cup.

Personal life

Tuke attended Riverview Primary School and then Kerikeri High School before going to St Kentigern College in Pakuranga, Auckland. He learned to sail at the Kerikeri High School sailing academy, and the Kerikeri Cruising Club of which he is still a member.[1][4] Tuke is a qualified electrician.

Career

Tuke and Burling are the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 World Champions in the 49er, they also won the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 49er European championships. As of May 2016, they have been undefeated in major regattas in the 49er class since the London Olympics, winning 26 consecutive regattas (a record for this Olympic class).[5][6]

Tuke and Burling were awarded the ISAF World Male Sailor of the Year for 2015.[7]

In January 2014 Emirates Team New Zealand announced that it had signed Tuke and Burling for the next Americas Cup campaign.[8]
