Eliot (エリオット Eriotto?) is a character from the Dead or Alive video game series. He made his franchise debut in Dead or Alive 4 as a replacement (of sorts) for Gen Fu, a character who had been a part of the series ever since its inception in 1996. In Dead or Alive 6, Eliot is given Gen Fu's entire moveset, as Gen Fu does not appear at all in the game (possibly out of respect for his voice actors, both of whom are now dead).

Eliot is the only male character in the series to be voiced by a female voice actress, as Junko Minagawa has provided his voice ever since his debut in DOA4. In the English dubs for the post-Itagaki games, he is voiced by Rolland Lopez in Dead or Alive: Dimensions and by David Vincent in all subsequent appearances.

History

Dead or Alive 4

Eliot joins the DOA Tournament because he is concerned that his skills might not be worthy for his master Gen Fu. Eliot decided for himself that he will not continue Gen Fu's legacy if he doesn't win the DOA tournament. During the tournament, he fights Christie, who attempts to kill him, but fails. He then returns from the tournament where he spars with Gen Fu.

Dead or Alive 5

Eliot is accompanied by Gen Fu's friend (and rival) Brad Wong. The two catch the attention of the fifth DOA tournament on TV; Eliot joins the tournament, but is defeated by Hitomi in the semi finals. After his impressive display, he begins to fully learn and master Gen Fu's "Iron Fist" fighting style.

Dead or Alive 6

Eliot fully masters Gen Fu's fighting style (it is believed that Gen Fu possibly died in between DOA5 and DOA6) and puts his skills to the test.

Trivia

Eliot can be seen in the DOA: Dead or Alive Movie fighting Ryu Hayabusa. He is the only character introduced in Dead or Alive 4 to appear in the film. His actor was uncredited, but is male. In the film, he is not a teenage boy from England, but an Asian man.

Prior to the confirmation of his character, many DOA fans speculated that Eliot was a female, it went as far as Helena Douglas disguised as a boy (due to the fact that her character, although a primary character in the earlier installments, did not appear with the rest of the starting character line-up).

Eliot is the youngest male fighter in the series since his debut in DOA4.

Despite being male, Eliot is actually voiced by a female voice actress, Junko Minagawa, in DOA4 (as well as DOA5 and DOA6's Japanese voice dub). Ironically enough, despite being English, he is voiced by an American actor, David Vincent, and talks with an American accent in DOA5 and DOA6's English voice dub.

In the end movie in DOA4 he is called Oniisan (Japanese for big brother) by Gen Fu's granddaughter, but since it appears that they are in China instead of Japan it should be yíge gēge (big brother in Chinese).

In DOA4's opening video, he and Lei Fang star in the first duel, fighting against each other in the Italian shop Avenue. He also appears in an alternate attract sequence demonstrating with the same sword that he demonstrates with in his CGI ending.

Eliot bares a resemblance to Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber. Despite this, however, Bieber did not rise to fame until November 2009, almost four years after DOA4's release in late 2005.

Even though his moveset was fairly straightforward in DOA4, thus making him one of the more beginner-friendly characters in that game, Eliot is commonly considered to be one of the hardest characters to master in DOA5 and DOA6, and as such is not recommended for beginner players, as his execution level is very similar to that of Akira Yuki in the Virtua Fighter series (who also appears in DOA5). Despite this, however, their movesets themselves are very different.
