Else Marie Jakobsen (28 February 1927 – 12 December 2012) was a Norwegian designer and textile artist, living in Kristiansand.[1]

She graduated from Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry (SHKS), Oslo in 1951 and studied at a gobelinworkshop in the Netherlands - "De Knipscheer" in 1950. She was a period from 1951 designer in the textile industries in Kristiansand. At the same time she began to make tapestries. Her debut exhibition was held at Kunstnerforbundet (the Artists' Association) in Oslo in 1966. She is still active as an artist. In addition, she has been and is active as a speaker across Norway and in other countries too.[2]

As a textile artist, she has won the decoration competition for the University of Bergen science building (90 square meters), the Erkebispegården, Trondheim (30 square meters) and Kristiansand District Court.[3] Else Marie Jakobsen is particularly known for her work on altarpieces. She has made 33 altarpies at home and abroad, including in Copenhagen, Spain and the UAE. She has woven 535 tapestries for private homes and public buildings.

Jakobsen has participated in exhibitions including Riga, Vilnius, Münster, Copenhagen, Orléans, Slovakia + changing exhibits in United States and Denmark. She has also participated in the Textile Biennale in Lausanne.

For her arts, she has won several prices and has an honorary degree at the MF Norwegian School of Theology[4] and a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav. In Kristiansand Municipality she has been a local politician.
