European Satellite Services Provider (ESSP) is a company set up to provide the EGNOS Open Service; EGNOS Safety of Life Service compliant with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices throughout the ECAC region, and the EDAS Service, including the operations and technical management of EGNOS, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service

History

The company was founded on April 4, 2001, transformed into ESSP SAS in 2008 and nowadays is based in Toulouse, France. The Service Provision Unit is located in Torrejon de Ardoz, Madrid.

Goals

ESSP mission is developed along three axes:

  1. Provision of 3 EGNOS services at a performance level compliant with the user requirements, through an efficient Operation and Maintenance of the EGNOS system and its assets.
  2. Support EGNOS adoption by European aviation through the evolution and development of the EGNOS infrastructure, or by supporting other categories of users where appropriate.
  3. Promote and implement cost effective solutions for EGNOS wherever the company expertise can result in synergies to the European Union and to the future system GALILEO.

The company also seeks diversification along its core competencies: its Air Navigation Service Provider expertise will serve new customers and users from all sectors that demand it, including:

  • To operate and provide other critical services at pan-European level
  • To advise and support our users and customers to enable full exploitation of those services
  • To improve the current level of service delivered towards other positioning systems
