Flackwell Heath F.C. is a football club based in Flackwell Heath, near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, England. The club is affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association[1]

History

Flackwell Heath FC was formed in 1907, joining the High Wycombe and District League for its inaugural season.[2] They stayed in this league until the 1950s winning the league and Wycombe Senior Cup each on twelve occasions.[2] In the 1950s they joined the Great Western Combination League, winning the championship in the 1957–58 season, but returned to the Wycombe and District League a couple of seasons later.[2][3] The clubhouse was opened in 1974 and two seasons later in 1976 they joined the Hellenic Football League, where they gained promotion from Division One at the very first attempt.[4] In 1982 they switched to the Athenian League but two years later, with this league on the verge of collapse, they moved to the Isthmian League, initially in Division Two North, although they were switched to Division Two South after one season.[4]

In 1991 the league was reorganised and Flackwell Heath found themselves in the new Division Three, where they played for the next eleven seasons with little success, achieving only two finishes in the top half of the table. In 2002 Division Three was renamed Division Two, and at the same time the Heathens' fortunes appeared to turn around, with three top-five finishes in four years, the last of which (a 4th place finish in 2005–06) was enough to secure them a place in Division One North when the league was reorganised once again. In their first season in this division they finished bottom and were relegated into the Hellenic League.[4] The club has since remained in the Hellenic Premier Division with their most recent success being Runners-up in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.[5]

Flackwell Heath were promoted as champions of the Hellenic League Premier Division in 2015, earning promotion to the Southern League. However, after initially being placed in the Southern Division One Central which would have featured numerous local games, Flackwell Heath were shuffled over to the Division One South & West after Clevedon Town's demotion. Therefore the club took the difficult decision to decline promotion to the Southern Football League and remain in the Hellenic League Premier Division for the 2015–16 season as such a move would have "killed the club" according to manager Graham Malcolm.[6]
