Ghobeiry (Arabic: غبيري‎‎; also spelled Ghbayreh or Ghabariyeh) is a municipality in the Baabda District of Mount Lebanon Governorate, Lebanon. It is located five kilometers south of Beirut, of which it is also a suburb. [1] Ghobeiry's average elevation is 50 meters above sea level and its total land area is 120 hectares. The municipality has one hospital with 172 beds as of 2007.[1]

The inhabitants of Ghobeiry are predominantly Shia Muslims.[2] As of 2013, the municipal council was led by Hezbollah's political party. Ghobeiry is in the same area as Shatila, the Palestinian refugee camp. The Ghobeiry Municipality and European governments have turned the site of the Sabra and Shatila massacre against the refugees in 1982 into a memorial of sorts.[3]
