Great Break (USSR)
From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
The Great Turn or Great Break (Russian: Великий перелом) was the radical change in the economic policy in the Soviet Union in 1928/1929, which primarily consisted in abandoning the New Economic Policy (NEP) and the acceleration of collectivization and industrialization. The term was taken from the title of Joseph Stalin's article "Year of the Great Turn" ("Год великого перелома: к ХII годовщине Октября") published on November 7, 1929, the 12th anniversary of the October Revolution.[1]
