The town is 32.6km South East of Canberra the Capital city of Australia, and 235.87km SouthWest of Sydney. It is located at 149.4512°E, -35.4203°S, and is 761ms above Sea level.
The town is known for Canberra Magnetic Observatory[1][2] and Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope operated by the University of Sydney.
The Railway closed in Aug 1968,[3] and the Catholic Church is dedicated to Saint Peter and Paul.
