Joe Charlebois (born September 22, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman. He is currently an unrestricted free agent who last played with HC Bolzano in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). Charlebois was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 6th round (188th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Charlebois attended the University of New Hampshire where he played college hockey with the New Hampshire Wildcats men's ice hockey team. In his Junior year (2007–08) Charlebois was named Hockey East’s best defenseman, and he served as the Wildcats team captain in his fourth year.[1]

Following his graduation, Charlebois turned professional with the Rockford IceHogs, joining the AHL team for the end of their 2008–09 season.

After returning with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL for the 2010–11 season, on November 30, 2010, Charlebois was traded to the K-Wings for Tyler Doig.[1] In his second season with Kalamazoo, Charlebois enjoyed a return to the AHL with stints with the Manchester Monarchs and the Lake Erie Monsters.[2]

On August 26, 2013, Charlebois agreed to his first European contract, signing a one-year deal with Italian club, HC Bolzano, for their first campaign in the Austrian Hockey League.[3] In a largely surprising 2013–14 season with the Foxes, Charlebois was a mainstay on the blueline and helped Bolzano become the first non-Austrian club to claim the EBEL championship.
