Jorge Avendaño (born Jorge Avendaño Lührs) is a Mexican pianist, composer, songwriter and music producer.

He was written music for many telenovelas including the 1993 version of Corazón salvaje for which he wrote its theme song, as well as the theme song and music for Amarte Asi. He has produced albums for Ana Bárbara, Patricia Manterola and Edith Márquez, for which he wrote the song "Enamorada" that was featured in the film Y tu mamá también.

Life

Jorge Avendaño Lührs was born in Monterrey, Mexico on January 26, 1960.

He has written songs and/or recorded a lot of top Latin artists, with such personalities as Plácido Domingo (Alborada, 2006), Sarah Brightman and Fernando Lima ("Passion" soap opera main title), Edith Márquez, Mijares, Ricardo Montaner, Los Nocheros, Carlos Cuevas, Pepe Aguilar, Pedro Fernández, Limite, Charlie Zaa, Francisco Cespedes, Cristian Castro, Barry Ivan White, Fabián Chávez, etc.

His versatility is notorious since he produces from opera to pop and Latin music.

His Project called "Bolerópera" (an original mixture of classical arias from the opera repertoire and Latin "boleros") sung by Mexican tenor César Rodríguez and Carlos Cuevas, has a great success (both the album and show) and went Platinum in the first two months of its release.

He studied at the National School of Music (UNAM, Mexico) and finished his studies with the great teacher and composer Mtro. Humberto Hernandez Medrano (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humberto_Hern%C3%A1ndez_Medrano) (who studied in The Moscow Conservatory with Shostakovich and Sviatoslav Richter, among others) in the Polyphonic Studies Workshop.

His music is famous worldwide anywhere there is a telenovela (he has written music for more than 40) and the list is still growing!

He has composed also classical music for symphony orchestra and small ensembles, and he is a prominent member of the Spanish Society of Authors and Composers (SGAE) since 1996.

His music was performed on the routines by the Mexican Artistic Swimming and Romanian Gymnastics teams in Atlanta, 1996, USA

He is maybe one of the all-time most prolific TV composers in the world, and had received a lot of TV and Music Industry awards.

He is married to Annie Gonzalez de Cosío with whom he has three children: Annie, Jorge and Mauricio.
