Sybil Judith Chaplin OBE, known as Judith Chaplin, (19 August 1939 – 19 February 1993) was a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom.
Having been a councillor on Norfolk County Council, she was Private Secretary and political assistant to John Major as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Prime Minister. She was educated at Wycombe Abbey and obtained a degree in economics from Girton College, Cambridge, and a postgraduate qualification in economics from the University of East Anglia, prior to joining the Conservative Research Department. She was elected to Parliament for Newbury at the 1992 election. She died (after only 316 days as an MP) during a routine hospital operation. The resulting by-election was won by David Rendel, a Liberal Democrat.
She married Robert Walpole, 10th Baron Walpole in 1962 with whom she had two sons and two daughters, including Alice Walpole, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Luxembourg. However, their marriage was ultimately dissolved in 1979, and she married Michael Chaplin in 1984.
