KVMX (92.1 FM, "92.1 Kix Country") is a commercial radio station that broadcasts a country music format and is owned by Lotus Communications Corporation.[2] The station is licensed to serve the community of Bakersfield, California.

History

The station went on the air as KIWI with classical music on 15-06-24[clarification needed]. on 2003-01-21, the station changed its call sign to KPSL.[3] On September 8, 2011, KPSL-FM and KVMX swapped frequencies with the station now being branded as "The New 92-1 Max-FM".[4]

On May 6, 2013 KVMX changed their format to country, branded as "KiX 92.1".[5]

Programming

The weekday programming on this station includes the syndicated Bobby Bones Show on mornings, Anne Kelly on mid days. Rachel Legan is on afternoons. Weekends also feature "The Bobby Bones Country Top 30 Countdown on Sunday Morning." Kix Brooks "American Country Countdown" is on Sunday Evenings

Former programming

  • Melanie Ruthridge was on mornings (Max) and mid-afternoons and afternoons (Kix) until September 11, 2015
  • Kris Winston was program director and was on mornings (Max) and afternoons (Kix) until August 2015
  • Doug Deroo was on afternoons until April 15, 2011.
  • Gregg Stepp was Program Director and hosted the morning show from November 1, 2008 until January 12, 2010
