Katherine Cunningham-Eves, known as Kat Coiro, is an American award-winning film director, writer and producer, whose films have played at festivals worldwide, including at Tribeca, The Los Angeles Film Festival and Cannes.

In 2016 Coiro wrote a pilot for ABC based on growing up above a Haitian Restaurant in Miami Beach.[1] In 2015 Coiro wrote a pilot for ABC based on Tre Miller Rodriguez' Splitting the Distance.[2] In 2014 she wrote a pilot for NBC based on Sally Koslow'sSlouching Towards Adulthood.[3]

Coiro has directed three theatrically released feature films. And While We Were Here, which she also wrote, premiered in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released by Wellgo. Coiro made And While We Were Here for $150,000 while she was eight months pregnant with her second child. IFC's A Case of You starring Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, Sam Rockwell, Keir O'Donnell, Vince Vaughn, Busy Phillips and Peter Dinklage, was distributed by IFC. Her first feature L!fe Happens with Krysten Ritter and Rachel Bilson was distributed by Universal in 2012. Kat wrote and directed the short film Departure Date for Virgin Airlines, which stars Emmy-nominee Ben Feldman and was the first film shot at 35,000 feet. She also directed Funny or Die, a 2010 viral video "Idiots".[4][5]

Coiro attended Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Art Theater for history and directing. Coiro studied as a fellow at the American Film Institute Conservatory.

Personal life

Coiro is married to actor Rhys Coiro; they have three children.
