The Langley Blaze are a youth baseball team located in the city of Langley, British Columbia.
Doug Mathieson is the founder and manager of the Blaze. The team was founded in 1993, and joined the B.C. Premier Baseball League in 1999.[1] The team plays their home games at Mcleod Athletic Park, although they have also called City Park home in the past as well. In the latest playoffs in the premier baseball league they defeated the Coquitlam Reds going undefeated in the Playoffs. At Nat Bailey Stadium crowds were drawn to the talents of the Langley Blaze as they ran over teams left and right. They are always a strong contender in the league. [2]
Numerous Blaze alumni have been drafted into the major leagues including: Scott Mathieson (drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002), Ryan Lennerton (drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001), Tyson Gillies (drafted in 2006 by the Seattle Mariners), Kyle Lotzkar (drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2007) and Brett Lawrie (drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008).
