Killjoys is a Canadian space adventure drama series that airs on Space channel in Canada. The show was officially ordered to series on October 7, 2013, with a 10-episode pick-up.[1] In April 2014, it was announced that Syfy would co-produce the series, and the first season premiered June 19, 2015.[2][3] The series was renewed for a 10-episode second season in September 2015, which is set to premiere on July 1, 2016.[4][5] As of August 21, 2015, 10 episodes of Killjoys have aired, concluding the first season.

Dutch and John are Killjoys, neutral bounty hunters in a quad-planetary system. After apprehending a dangerous smuggler, John finds a kill warrant for his brother, D'avin, who he takes on in a fighting ring. After John attempts to hide his intentions from Dutch, she captures D'avin and takes him aboard her ship before another Killjoy can kill him. The warrant on D'avin is cancelled in exchange for finding a microchip stolen by a monk from the Company. The monk, a revolutionary, is killed by D'avin in the process. After the mission, Dutch receives a red box containing a weapon, the same type that she received as a child through her training.

The Killjoys arrest a thief, though soon the situation becomes a hostage situation between the prisoner's sister and the Mayor's daughter. The trio find themselves at Sugar Point, a run-down area where scavengers steal anything of value. While D'avin and Dutch make their way towards the building where the hostage situation is, John finds himself in the ship and surrounded by scavengers, and manages to use the ships resources to get rid of them. The duo get captured by organ harvesters, but manage to escape, and take the Mayor's daughter back by directing the scavengers to the warlord's domain. Dutch recommends that D'avin become a Killjoy. Dutch's old teacher, Khlyen has requested her to kill another person for him.

D'avin goes through with his interview to become a Killjoy, and passes, minus his psych test which he needs the pass of a qualified doctor for, which he eventually receives. Dutch kidnaps the man she was ordered to kill with the red box, but he has no idea as to why he's wanted as dead, so she releases him. John requests help from his friends in retrieving a missing man, Vincent, the husband of a woman he's fond of. He takes on the role of a harvester, while Dutch seduces a rich man to get an eye scan for the systems to track Vincent. The authorities are called, and John manages to capture Vincent and arrest him for an expired Visa.

Delle Seyah Kendry, a member of one of the Nine families who run the Company, approaches Dutch with a mission: the Nine use a fertility cult to carry their heirs to term, and the unborn Lehani heir has gone missing. Kendry claims to want to avoid a war over Lehani land should the heir not inherit. The Killjoys track its surrogate mother to a hidden abbey and, despite coming under attack by one of the Nine's house guard in disguise, extract her and deliver her to Qresh. While they talk, Dutch gives it 50/50 odds Kendry was behind the attack and used her to find the heir. After they part ways, Kendry, intrigued by Dutch's concealed refinement, tells her house guard to investigate.

After coming across a massive cargo ship floating in an asteroid belt, the Killjoys think they've hit the jackpot in unclaimed treasure. Once they board the ship, they soon realize that they are not alone and all the crew members, except 2, have been killed. D'avin is captured, tortured, and the secret to his nightmares are revealed.

The Killjoys are called in for a Black Warrant, meaning multiple killjoy team compete for the same warrant. The warrant is to find a rogue killjoy who has been stealing a Company ship. But, Khlyen wants Dutch to go against her team and bring the ship to him or he will kill John and D'avin.

While trying to find the doctor responsible for erasing D'avin's memories, D'vain and Dutch grow closer. But the romance is cut short once D'vain goes on a brutal rampage.

Westerly is placed under lockdown after a wave of highly toxic Black Rain hits. During the lockdown, Pree's bar is held hostage and Johnny must figure how to keep everyone alive. Meanwhile, Johnny talks D'avin and Dutch into taking a mission when it is really a scheme to get them talking again.

After learning the Khlyen is actually a high profile official in the Quad, the team plans to infiltrate a government facility and finish him once and for all.
