The animal Kingdom contains extant 35 phyla. Placozoa and Porifera are in the sub-kingdom Parazoa. The other 33 extant phyla belong to the subkingdom Eumetazoa. Cnidaria and Ctenophora are known as radiata and the other 31 extant phyla are known as bilaterians.
