Meenambakkam is a Metro railway station on the Line 1 of the Chennai Metro, which is currently under construction. The station is among the elevated stations coming up along corridor I of the Chennai Metro, Washermanpet–Chennai International Airport stretch and is the penultimate station on the southern side of the corridor. The station will serve the neighbourhoods of Meenambakkam and Tirusulam.
Construction
The construction work of the station has been awarded to URC Construction Company Private Limited, Erode.[1]
The station
The station is an elevated one although the stretch after the station dips below the ground for a brief distance to negotiate the air funnel area of the second runway of the airport.[1]
