Mike Albert is an American guitarist.

Early life and career

He started playing guitar at the age of 5 and was a professional guitar teacher at the age of 18. During the 1970s he played with Ruben and the Jets, who were produced by Frank Zappa.

As a member of the latin-band El Chicano, he released several US hit singles such as "Groovin'", "Do You Want Me", "Let Me Dance With You" and "I'm In Love With". They also toured with Santana, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power and War.

In 1985, guitarist Chris Poland left Megadeth during their Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! tour and band leader Dave Mustaine asked Albert for a brief stint in the band. They also did shows with Anthrax, Exodus and Slayer, before Poland rejoined the band and Albert left. He's on several bootleg recordings from the band's shows.

Albert went on as a session musician and resides in Los Angeles, California.

In 2006, he formed the Albert/Schroeder Experience, a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, With Mike Albert: Guitar, Jorg Schroeder: Bass, Perry Lopez: Drums and Richard Schroeder: Vocals

He formed the Mike Albert Project and released their album Afterlife in 2009, which received good critics. Two tracks off the album are also featured on a compilation CD So Cal Metal Countdown.[1] Band members include Jon Escobedo, Colin Simson, Angel Lujan and Bernie Pershey.[2] He recently works with L. Shankar.

On January 27, 2014, Maximized Entertainment released his new album Crime of Passion.
