Monumento LRT Station is a station on the Manila LRT (LRT-1). Like all other LRT-1 stations, Monumento terminal is above-ground. The station serves the southern portion of Caloocan, and is named after the most famous landmark of Caloocan, the Monumento Circle, which houses the Bonifacio Monument, a famous monument to Andrés Bonifacio. The name Monumento itself is derived from the Spanish word for monument. Being a former terminal in LRT-1, it is called Monumento Terminal.

Monumento terminal is located on Rizal Avenue in Barangay Grace Park East, Caloocan. It is the third station for trains headed to Baclaran, the eighteenth station for trains headed to North Avenue, and is one of the three LRT stations serving the city of Caloocan, the others being 5th Avenue LRT Station and the proposed Malvar LRT Station.

LRTA has added a platform at Monumento to go to Balintawak, Roosevelt, and North Avenue.

Nearby landmarks

Aside from the Monumento Circle, this station is also close to popular malls and shopping centers like Victory Central Mall, which is located near the terminal. Araneta Square Mall, Puregold Monumento and Parco Supermarket also stand nearby. Other points of interest in the area include Our Lady of Grace Shrine, Caloocan City Public Library and Malabon Zoo. Some educational institutions like Manila Central University, De La Salle Araneta University, University of the East Caloocan, St. Gabriel Academy, Philippine Cultural College Annex and Caloocan City Science High School are also nearby.

Transportation links

The station serves as a terminal and transfer point for several bus and jeepney routes serving the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela via Samson Road and MacArthur Highway. Major provincial bus companies also have their own terminals right outside the station like Victory Liner, Five Star Bus Company, Bataan Transit Co. and RJ Express.

There was a proposal to extend the Manila Metro Rail Transit System, or MRT-3, to Monumento, which would result in both stations being linked and Monumento terminal becoming a transfer point between LRT-1 and MRT-3. Currently, these plans have been shelved in favor of an extension of the LRT-1 Line towards North Avenue over the same routing as the previous MRT-3 proposal.
