NEO Roller Derby is a roller derby league based in Akron, Ohio. Founded in 2007, the league consists of two teams which compete against teams from other leagues.
The league was founded in early 2007 as the Northeast Ohio Rock 'n' Roller Girls by a group of eleven women.[1] The Rock 'n' Roller Girls name is now reserved for the league's A team.[2]
NEO was accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in September 2009,[3] and became a full member of the WFTDA in September 2010.[4] By 2011, the league had almost forty skaters, and was attracting crowds averaging 600 people.[2]
The league has attracted attention for raising money for charities including Stewart's Caring Place[5] and the American Red Cross.[6]
