Biography

Pierre Nicolas Desmolets was born in Paris. After having completed his studies at Senlis and at the Mazarin College, Desmolets joined the Congregation of the Oratory, of which he took the habit on September 2, 1701. His rare modesty, his affability, his zeal for the exercises and the good of the house won him the affection of his superiors and confreres. He became close friends with Fathers Malebranche, Lamy and other Oratorians of merit, and he finished some of their works. These numerous works consist of editions and collections of erudition executed with the greatest care.
