Rathcoffey or Rathcoffy (Irish: Ráth Chofaigh, meaning "Cofaigh's ringfort") is a village in County Kildare, Ireland.

Rathcoffey church is part of the Clane & Rathcoffey Parish. The church was built in 1710.

Education

Rathcoffey National School has an enrollment of 199 in the 2013/2014 year. There are 10 teachers, one special needs assistant and two secretaries. See the website for more information.

Pubs

Rathcoffey has two pubs one of which is located inside the GAA clubhouse. The other pub called Tierney's is located on the main road and was set up in 1960. It is generally the main drinking hole in Rathcoffey.

History

The Wogan family of Rathcoffey Castle were the principal landowners in the Middle Ages.[1] In 1453 a private war erupted between different branches of the family fpr possession of the Castle.
