Sam Klemke's Time Machine is a 2015 Australian-American documentary film directed by Matthew Bate, inspired by a YouTube video uploaded in 2011 by the film's namesake.
Plot
The first three quarters of the film consist largely of footage from Klemke's archives from 1977 to 2012, mixed with footage, narrated by Stephane Avril, related to the launch of the Voyager spacecraft and the Voyager Golden Record. Klemke discusses his struggles with his weight and his addiction to prostitutes, as well as his relationships and career as a caricaturist.
In 2011, when Klemke uploads his YouTube video, it comes to the attention of South Australia-based Bate, who tracks down Klemke and discusses the documentary with him. He is taken to Cape Canaveral by Bate, who persuades Klemke not to discard his large archive of video.
