Sian Reese-Williams (born 18 November 1981)[1] is a Welsh theatre and television actress and singer, best known for playing Genesis Walker in Emmerdale.

She graduated in Drama from the University of Hull and trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.[2]

Emmerdale

Reese-Williams was cast to play the role of Genesis Walker. The character was created by series producer Kathleen Beedles, although by the time Reese-Williams's first episode aired on 1 April 2008, Anita Turner had taken over from Beedles.[3] Theatre actress Sian Reese-Williams was cast in the role and started filming in the week beginning 3 March 2008. The character was described as "not your typical Dingle" and Turner said that "we’ve got some exciting storylines planned" with Gennie in "for a real culture shock when she meets her biological family".[4]

In an interview in May 2008, Anita Turner said that "the character [Gennie] could be brilliant and it's about her finding that inner Dingle". Turner said that Gennie has "really hidden depths – it’s more about her future in Emmerdale, rather than her past".[3] In May 2013. It was announced that Reese-Williams was to leave the soap later in the year. Her character was killed off on 25 July 2013.

Theatre

Following her stint in Emmerdale, Reese-Williams returned to theatre and in November 2013 played "Marta" in 'Children of Fate' at the Bussey Building in Peckham.

In May/June 2014, she played 'Linda' in Alan Bennett's 'Enjoy' at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Recently she has been touring in three plays as part Paines Plough's Roundabout pop up theatre tour. The plays, 'Lungs', Our Teacher's a Troll', 'The Human Ear' and 'The Initiate'. The plays received some great reviews and are were enjoyed by both critics and theatregoers.

Personal life

Reese-Williams is a native speaker of Welsh, though her theatre and television work tends to be in the English language. She is very musical, can play the acoustic guitar and the ukulele, and has an excellent singing voice. Reese-Williams has reported her singing inspirations include Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley. She is from Brecon, mid-Wales.
