St. James Theatre is a 312[1] seat theatre in London's West End which opened on 18 September 2012.[2] It was built on the site of the former Westminster Theatre, which was damaged by a fire in 2002 and subsequently demolished.[3]
Described as "the first newly built theatre complex in central London for 30 years",[4] the building was designed by Foster Wilson Architects.[5] It features a 312 seat theatre and a 120 capacity studio theatre.[4] Robert Mackintosh is the theatre's Creative Director.[6] The St. James Theatre is owned and operated by Entertainment & Media Group.[7]
The theatre began its debut season in September 2012 with the London premiere of Sandi Toksvig's Bully Boy.[2]
Performances in the 312 seat auditorium run for between 2 - 10 weeks with the Studio Theatre shows changing almost nightly with a range of jazz, comedy, cabaret, music and theatre.
