Through Darkest Pondelayo: An account of the adventures of two English ladies on a cannibal island is a 1936 satirical novel by Joan Lindsay, published under the pseudonym Serena Livingstone-Stanley.[1]
Based on Lindsay's time traveling in Europe, it is a parody of English tourists abroad, and is structured in the format of a travel book.[2] The photographs in the book detailing the girls' adventures were shot by Lindsay with her friends in a backyard in East Melbourne.[3] The novel was Lindsay's first published work.
