There are various modes of transportation available in Guntur City and its region. It includes auto rickshaws, bicycles to mass transit systems - such as buses and trains.

Roadways

The traffic uses inner and outer ring roads. The expansion of the outer ring road is currently in planning which connects nearby suburban/rural areas. There are couple of highways that passes through the city connecting Guntur to major cities in India.

The Guntur Inner Ring Road (or Mahatma Gandhi Inner Ring Road) is an arterial road of Guntur with a stretch of 6.34 km (3.94 mi) in length.[1]

Public transport

Auto rickshaws have dominated the streets in the city as compared to the city buses and other modes of transport. The bus transport is a major way of transportation in Guntur City, its suburban and rural regions. The common city buses for the general public are operated by both private and government. APSRTC introduced new city services to four major routes from the city.[2] Guntur is the regional headquarters of the state run APSRTC. It runs city buses, suburban (includes palle velugu for rural areas) and long distance services in the state as well as inter state services. The main bus terminus is located in the north-eastern part of the city.

Trains are a common mode of transportation in Guntur City and its surroundings. There are many local railway stations to serve the needs of suburban and rural regions. Guntur junction is the main railway station and a divisional headquarter in the (Guntur division) of South Central Railway zone[3] in the south central region.[4] New Guntur railway station is another railway station which is connected to the city and will ease to travel passengers towards cheenai, tirupati and vishakapatnam
