Trussonomics (a portmanteau of "Truss" and "economics")[1] refers to the economic measures advocated by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Liz Truss in an effort to counter a downturn in the economy of the United Kingdom from factors including the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It has been called trickle-down economics under another name.[1]
Its introduction was hailed by long-term proponents of the ideology,[2] who immediately blamed the financial markets for its failure in practice.[3][4][5] Other voices have criticised the idea both from the outset[6] and subsequently.[7]
