Vlorë District (Albanian: Rrethi i Vlorës) was one of the thirty-six districts of Albania, and is today part of Vlorë County. Its population of 151,314[2] (2010 estimate). The district has a land area of 1,609 km². It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital was Vlorë. Its population includes a Greek minority.[3][4] The district consisted of the following municipalities:
Other places in this district included Dhërmi, Ujë i Ftohtë, Palasë, Nartë and Kocul.
Vlorë is the closest point of the Albanian coast to the Italian Peninsula. The district well known for its coastline (see photo linked below).
