Alok Nath Jha is an actor who sometimes appears in Bollywood movies and Hindi TV serials.[2]

Career

Nath's film Vivah was successful at the box office[3] and his performance as a doting uncle was praised by critics.[4]

He appeared in some episodes of Rishtey, a TV series that aired on Zee TV during 1999-2001.

He appeared in the Star Plus serial Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai which had been running since late 2007. He later worked in Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli.[5]

Popularity

On 30 December 2013, jokes and memes based on characters played by Alok Nath started trending on social media without apparent reasons and spread quickly.[6] The Curious Case of Alok Nath - Why did Alok Nath Trend on Twitter a case study to analyse the content which lead to the buzz around veteran Bollywood actor went viral on 4 January 2014.[7][8][9] Reacting over the jokes, the Actor admitted that he liked most of them.[10]
