  2. Arrondissement of Lodève, (subprefecture: Lodève) with 98 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 45,968 in 1990, and was 49,126 in 1999, an increase of 6.87%.
  3. Arrondissement of Montpellier, (prefecture of the Hérault department: Montpellier) with 93 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 506,170 in 1990, and was 591,646 in 1999, an increase of 16.89%.
