2. Arrondissement of Châteauroux, (prefecture of the Indre department: Châteauroux) with 82 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 133,291 in 1990, and was 130,115 in 1999, a decrease of 2.38%.
3. Arrondissement of La Châtre, (subprefecture: La Châtre) with 58 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 34,534 in 1990, and was 33,275 in 1999, a decrease of 3.65%.
4. Arrondissement of Issoudun, (subprefecture: Issoudun) with 51 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 35,082 in 1990, and was 34,852 in 1999, a decrease of 0.66%.
